Should you choose fruit juice over whole fruit?

Like many people, I've also thought quite a lot of times, that whether I should pick fruit juice over eating a whole fruit or not.

Now if you too are pondering about the same, then continue reading my fellow reader.(:

Generally, people believe that since juice is being extracted from the fruit, so the former will be as healthy as the later. But if we try to dig a little deeper, we will find out that this belief is quite wrong for some important health reasons.

Whole fruits comprise of more fiber and nutrients as compared to juices. Dietary fiber, which has numerous health benefits such as maintaining bowel health and cholesterol levels, controlling blood sugar levels etc, is sieved off during juicing.

The fruit skin is rich in antioxidants and various other essential nutrients which is absent in juices.

Secondly, when we drink fruit juice, the sugar content is quickly absorbed by the body due to the absence of dietary fibers and hence elevate the blood sugar levels.

This is the reason why diabetic patients are specifically advised to avoid drinking juices.

On the other hand, in whole fruits the fiber binds with the sugar content due to which our body takes much longer time to absorb the sugar.

Further you should avoid consuming commercial juices as much as possible because they are packed with added sugars, preservatives and colors which are even worse for health.

All in all, whole fruits win over juices in any case.
